This unit gives you a basic introduction to the Old Testament.

It is time to study your first Old Testament book and we will start at the beginning of the Bible with Genesis.

This book explains how the world began and what went wrong, but how God had a plan to restore His broken world.

As you study this book you will be impacted by God's deep love for the world and all humanity.

In the book of Exodus we see God miraculously set free His people from slavery, foreshadowing the ultimate salvation in Jesus.

After many years in Egypt the Israelite people begin to rediscover who God is and His deep love for them and the world. God establishes a promise (Covenant) with them revealing more of His plan to transform them into a holy nation of His own so that they would lead all nations to Him.

The People of Israel are free from Egyptian slavery and now they need to learn how to live holy lives as God’s people. Leviticus teaches them how to be set apart in their worship and everyday living.

The book of Numbers covers the period of the wilderness years, starting with the First generation of Israelites in Mount Sinai having received the Covenant, and ending with the Second generation of Israelites at the Plains of Moab awaiting to enter the Promised Land. The whole journey should have taken 2 weeks but ended up taking 40 years! Why? Read on to find out…

The book of Deuteronomy concludes the 5 books of the Pentateuch (Old Testament Law). The wilderness journey is completed and the Second generation of Israelites are on the border of Canaan ready to enter the Promised Land. Moses is at the end of His life and in his parting words, before he dies, he implores Israel to follow and serve the Lord wholeheartedly and obediently.
